Teacher guidance
Locate central Africa on a map. Do not describe inhabited forests as empty wilderness. Distinguish invented maps from factual geography.
Answers and reasons
1. What is biodiversity?
The variety of life.
2. Name two features of the Congo Basin besides trees.
Accept rivers, wetlands, wildlife, soil or communities.
3. Why should communities help make decisions about forests?
People have rights, livelihoods and knowledge linked to forests. Decisions affect them as well as wildlife.
